Happy New Year 2012 January Monthly News

A New Year and a clean slate is a wonderful opportunity to make a fresh start and reassess your life goals, make new goals, and commit to a healthy year ahead. Remember the past but don’t bring any regrets to the New Year – instead, plan to repair, rejuvenate, and renew your self.
Why do we make New Year’s resolutions each year? I believe as human beings we need to continually make both verbal and written goals and commitments for ourselves in order to succeed. If we don’t say it out loud and write it down, it is not really a commitment – it is too easy to forget, slip and give up. A friend recently told me, “Failing to plan is planning to fail.” Don’t let that happen. Make plans now.
To help get you started today, revisit the Four Keys in your Key Diet booklet (page 6-7) and review the suggestions below.
- Key One: Motivation. Sustaining your motivation requires planning and commitment. Set your goals today. Review and recommit each and every day. Adjust each week and continue forward. If you are reading this, you are probably motivated to take care of yourself. Make an appointment in our office and get started now!
- Key Two: Food Chemistry. Your body needs good foods, full of healthy proteins and fats, and whole food carbohydrates from vegetables and fruits. Don’t eat useless, non-nutritive foods. Often times, when your body is craving high sugar carbohydrates, it is probably lacking in protein intake. Start your day with a 30+ gram protein breakfast. In addition, add supplements such as L-Carnitine to your daily regime to help alleviate carbohydrate cravings. Review the others we recommend to ensure optimum health and improve fitness. Always remember to eat your minimum daily protein!
- Key Three: Eating Management.Clean out your kitchen of holiday foods – get those problematic foods out of your fridge and out of your life so you wont be tempted. Stock your kitchen with foods that will help you feel better, provide you with quick healthy snacks, and help you keep on track to obtain your goals. Give yourself permission to throw the junk food away!
- Key Four: Exercise. Make time for exercise and burn the excess weight you may have accumulated over the past few weeks. Find a walking buddy, join a gym, invest in some exercise equipment or dust off what you have at home. No regrets or guilt - just start!
